Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — The 2023 Leadership Bedford County Class has selected to restore the iconic Route 30 Coffee Pot as its class project.
The structure, which began its existence 100 years ago as a restaurant/bar, sits at the entrance of the Bedford County Fairgrounds.
The class is currently in the fundraising phase of the project, and they anticipate it will cost around $50,000 to complete.
Each year, thousands of people visit the coffee pot.
“That is what excited us about it because we knew that for generations to come, many people are going to be touched by this. We weren’t limited to just a small project where maybe only a few hundred would be affected. This is like nationwide stuff, so we thought that it would be pretty cool.”
Members of the Leadership Bedford County Class of 2023 were set up at this weekend’s Home and Garden Show, at the Bedford Fairgrounds, to sell coffee pot merchandise.
Anyone interested in making a donation can visit the program's Facebook page or by contacting the Bedford Chamber Foundation.
