Authorities in Blair County are providing new details on the investigation into an Easter Sunday stabbing involving two teenage girls.

Police have now filed charges against a 53-year-old Tyrone man after learning that he allegedly initiated the attack.

According to the affidavit, on April 9th, police were dispatched to the 100 block of West 12th Street, in Tyrone Borough, for a reported armed robbery.

Police say when officers arrived on scene, they discovered a 15-year-old female who had suffered multiple stab wounds after being attacked by another juvenile.

Authorities say the teenage attacker, later identified as a 14-year-old girl, had reportedly stolen a cellphone from the victim during the alleged assault.

Investigators say the victim was transported to UPMC Altoona and was treated for three stab wounds.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Kenneth Sweeney had reportedly provided said cellphone to the teen and had allegedly attempted to solicit her to perform sexual acts with him.

Police say when the 15-year-old reportedly refused said acts and would not return the cellphone, Sweeney then allegedly solicited the 14-year-old girl to retrieve the phone.

Authorities say several text messages on the 14-year-old's phone corroborated the claim, including one message from Sweeney that read, "make my thing happen."

Police say on the day of the incident, the 14-year-old reportedly went to confront the victim while on the phone with Sweeney.

Police say the victim told officers that she heard Sweeney tell the teen to "do it" prior to her pulling out a knife.

Authorities say officers also later discovered that Sweeney had provided said knife to the teen and surveillance video reportedly showed him discarding the knife in an area storm drain after the attack.

According to online court records, Sweeney was arraigned over the weekend on various charges, including felony solicitation, conspiracy, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.

He is being held at the Blair County Prison on $250,000 bail.
