Lily's Bakery giving away free meals during school shutdowns

April 2024 · 1 minute read

Many families who rely on the school system to provide their children with breakfast and lunch are trying to figure out how to feed their kids during COVID-19. Thankfully businesses in our area are helping those families in need, including Lily's Bakery in Punxsutawney.

Lily’s Bakery is giving away free breakfast and lunch for kids in grades K-12 for the next two weeks.

Their breakfast options include eggs and toast with a donut. For lunch, kids can get either two slices of pizza or a grilled cheese.

Kids must bring their student ID and an adult with them.

Kayla Smith, manager of Lily's Bakery, says they've received an outpouring of support from the community including donations from local churches.

With that support, Lily's Bakery will now deliver meals to the elderly.

Other businesses in our area to give away free breakfast and lunch to children in our area include Starlite Lounge in Mahaffey and Shannon's Catering in Sykesville.

Smith says it's important for the community to come together during times like this.

Lily’s Bakery serves free breakfast Monday-Friday from 7-10 a.m and lunch from 11 am-2 p.m.
