STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Macy's has decided to close two of its Pennsylvania stores, according to a company spokesperson.
Macy's Director of Media Relations Carolyn Cohen said Monday the department store chain decided to close Macy's Nittany Store in State College and the Macy's Harrisburg East Mall store in Harrisburg.
Cohen says a clearance sale will begin in January and run for about 8 to 12 weeks.
Regular and non-seasonal employees who are unable to be placed at a nearby Macy's store will be eligible for severance, including outplacement resources, Cohen said.
"The decision to close a store is always a difficult one, but Macy’s is proud to have served the State College community over the past 21 years and the Harrisburg community over the past 25 years. We encourage customers to shop with us at the nearest Macy’s store at Macy’s Logan Valley Mall and Macy’s Capital City Mall store as well as online at macys.com," Cohen said.
