A special adaptive swing is being brought into Myers Elementary school in Bellwood for children with special needs.

The previous swing needed some repairs, so the new swing is an upgrade.

The new swing at the elementary school was made possible through fundraising by the "Smiles for Miles Foundation."

One teacher at the school said the adaptive swing gives students the opportunity to enjoy time on the playground.

"Swings like this give students that you know may have some struggles in areas like with their attention, with being able to communicate with others and with being able to like kind of express themselves and get out some of those emotions," said David Plummer, a first-grade teacher at Myers Elementary School.

Plummer also said he wants to work towards improving the playground area so that it meets the needs of all students.
