Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly releasing backup quarterback Devlin "Duck" Hodges to make room on the roster for another backup quarterback, Josh Dobbs.
Dobbs was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in 2017, and was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars at the beginning of last season; the Jaguars then released him this past offseason.
Hodges was signed last season as a free agent and went 3-3 as a starter, while filling in for an injured Ben Roethlisberger and backup Mason Rudolph.
On Saturday, the Steelers cut their roster to a 53-man squad, releasing a few notable players, including receiver/special teams player Ryan Switzer.
