It was a mixed verdict Thursday in the trial forof a former Penn State fraternity member who was tied to the death of fraternity pledge Timothy Piazza

After five hearings in thisthe case, four preliminary hearings, and onea trial, Braxton Becker was found guilty on one misdemeanor charge in Centre County Court, in the first trial in the Penn State Beta Theta Pi fraternity hazing case.

Becker was facing three criminal charges -- tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and hindering prosecution.

BeckerHe was found guilty only on the hindering prosecution charge.

Police say Becker, the house manager at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, deliberately erased video from frat house cameras the night of the 2017 party that led to Timothy Piazza's death.

Prosecutors had emails written by Becker talking about deleting video, and a photo of him near one of the recording machines when the video disappeared.

The prosecution told the jury a logical conclusion would be to find Becker guilty.

But Becker's attorney said it was all circumstantial evidence and other testimony revealed the recording machines were close to ten10 years old, and and had just been repaired- before Piazza's death.

Becker denied the charges, saying the missing video was due to malfunctioning recording equipment. He's due back in court on August 20th20 for sentencing.
